In Death. The Sisterhood of Motherhood

I just read a facebook post from Angie, sister of my son in law. Yesterday was the “anniversary” of her son, Shawndre’s, death. He was just twenty six. Covid took him.

I wanted to write back. I wanted to write something profound that would take away her pain that is still so raw. But I couldn’t think of any words to say that made any sense or would have any power, whatsoever. It still hurts so bad. Her grief tears my heart out.

Her message was so profound, and yet the pain is still so real. Even though Shawndre was not a relative of mine, except in that he was cousin of Nori and Ancel, my grandchildren, it feels like family. I knew him.

For some reason, somebody as close as family, close to my heart, passed away. Why Angie’s grief has such an impact on me, I don’t know. Her daily posts of her grief at that time, hurt like daggers… and still does. I will never forget them. Nor will I ever forget him.

The sisterhood of motherhood.
